TVYT runs alongside the academic school year and this group is for school years 7+.
All of our weekly groups aim to reflect the interests and issues relevant to the young people involved, tailored to the ages of the young people involved.
In Spring Term 2017, we are celebrating TVYT's 5th birthday! Join us for a term of creating original theatre which will be performed as part of company-wide celebrations at the end of term. Details to be announced!
AUTUMN TERM 2016
Music, Memories and Moments was our last project of 2016, where the group created a piece inspired by the theme and performed it in a gala night of performances and Awards in December.
The theme explored our relationship with music and how it is often so closely linked to our memories and significant moments in our lives.
SPRING / SUMMER TERM 2016
What Lies Before Us focused on exporing the theme of bravery.
Each of our weekly groups created a piece of theatre inspired by the theme - what it means to be brave. What does it look like, feel like and smell like? What gets in our way of being brave and is it even important anyway?
The pieces were performed at Queen's Hall in Hexham.
Scratch Term - Spring 2016
In the first half of his term TVYT.Tuesdays worked towards a scratch night. Organised by the TVYT.Young Leaders, Straight From The Horse's Mouth was TVYT's first ever scratch night and was a storming success.
The night provided the young people of TVYT the opportunity to test ideas out on an audience, gather feedback and figure out ways to develop their piece into a polished performance.
The theme for this body of work was...GoyaThis Urdu word conveys a contemplative 'as-if' that nonetheless feels like reality, and describes the suspension of disbelief that can occur often through good storytelling.
The scratch term was all about pushing the young people of TVYT to experiment with new and exciting ways of telling stories.
HENKA NO YORO - THE NGHT OF CHANGE
In the 2015 Autumn term we were lucky enough to host Paines Plough's, Every Brilliant Thing. This phenomenal 1 man show inspired us to create our own piece, Joe Bloggs.
Every Brilliant Thing was personal and had a great connection with it's audience, it was this aspect that inspired the creation of our piece, Joe Bloggs, the most.
The character, Joe Bloggs, was intended to represent the every day person, and was created by stories and mannerisms taken from the TVYT members and practitioners that devised it.
As part of the project, all the groups involved went to see Theatre Sans Frontieres' production of 'Heaven Eyes' in October, meeting some of the actors and enjoying a Q&A with David Almond.
